New York City’s Fifth Annual Pillow Fight took place on April 3, 2010 in Union Square. Hundreds of pillow-wielding gladiators proceeded to pummel anyone within arms reach of them.

Prior to the battle, three girls decorate their pillows.

As the battle began, anyone with a pillow became fair game.

A battler winds up to unleash his pillow fury.

This guy has his battle face on.

There were hundreds of simultaneous battles taking place.

Union Square was inundated with pillow fighters.

These two girls decided to have a one-on-one battle up in the air.

This guy tried to fend off a whole crowd.

Sitting on top of a friend’s shoulder made this girl an easy target.

Here are a couple more features I shot the past few days.

I was trying out the “Matt Mallams” technique with this one. This was an R&B quartet singing in Washington Square Park.

One thing I love about Union Square is that it’s always so lively. I had to shoot features all day and Union Square is my favorite place to go. I know that I’ll be able to find something there. Here was a group of hacky sack players – and they were good.

I’m always a little weary about shooting features of children. It’s always a touchy subject with some parents. The parents’ of these three girls, however, were really receptive and I managed to get a few classic “kids playing in water” shots in. This was also in Washington Square Park.

I haven’t updated my blog in quite a while and I’m fully aware. I am back in New York now and here are a few images that I would like to share.

This was some graffiti that caught my eye in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn. It reminds me of the days of yesteryear where graffiti was extremely prevalent inside New York City – especially the subways.

I was walking downtown and a man (or woman I suppose) in a panda suit was spotted in the corner of my eye. He must have had a long hot day in that suit. He was dozing off and I’m sure the weight of the panda head exaggerated his head bobbing.
